Excerpts from Prim and Proper
Sean pulled off his boxers and added them to the pile of clothes.  He smiled at Prim and inquired as to whether or not she wanted him to do a 360 degree turn.  She shook her head and asked seriously if she could touch his skin.  He nodded.

Prim rose from the couch and came to stand in front of him.  She ran her hands along his shoulders, chest, and belly and examined his tattoo. Putting her arms around his waist, she asked about the colorful wings, what they meant, and why he’d gotten them on his chest and not his back.  As he slipped his arms around her, Sean hoped he didn’t come on the spot.

“I had the tattoo done when I was sixteen.  I was really struggling emotionally but knew I couldn’t let things get to me.  It wasn’t only my future at stake; it was Mom’s, Dad’s, and Debra’s, too.  I had to keep everything going.  If I didn’t, then the consequences would’ve been disastrous.  So, I decided to do something for myself that would remind me every day that life might be a bitch but I couldn’t give up and break or it’d be much worse for everyone else I held close to my heart.  I found a tattooist I liked, lied about my age, and explained to him what I wanted.  I’ve looked at that tattoo every day for the last fourteen years, and it makes me appreciate that I’ve never let anything break my wings.”

“Did it hurt to have the tattoo done?”

“Yes.  I knew it would, but I didn’t care.  I needed one thing that was just for me.”

Prim looked up at him and asked if she could touch his hips and legs.  He told her she could touch him anywhere she wanted.

A hand wraps gently around my wrist, stopping me from moving forward. “Marisa Washington?” I freeze at the deep voice I only heard hours ago. Forcing my eyes to look up, my stomach flips when they find the gorgeous Zach Greer standing in front of me.

“Zach,” I murmur and then I try to compose myself as much as possible. As my body thaws slightly from the shock of seeing him again, I feel his fingertips rubbing back and forth along the inside of my wrist. It’s calming and comforting instead of creepy like it should be. I’ve met him twice and his touch doesn’t bother me a bit, whereas if Pete’s hand brushes along mine, I swipe it back like he’s a mosquito.

He smiles down to me and I notice there’s no sign of surprise in those blue hues. “Why am I the only one surprised here?” I ask him, tilting my head to the side and a billowing easy going laugh erupts from his mouth.

“You caught me. I figured I may run into you,” he admits and my eyes must give away my hesitation that it hasn’t been a coincidence running into one another again. “I mean King’s Gate isn’t huge and I fly a lot of the tour customers to their destinations. Not that I intentionally followed you here … I didn’t know you’d stay here. I mean I kind—” he adorably rambles. I could become accustomed to a hot guy being nervous around me.

“It’s okay. I understand,” I interrupt and nervously twist a strand of my long dark hair around my finger.

“So, you’re staying here?” he asks, shoving his hands in his pockets and casually leaning against the wall.

“I’m not so sure I should tell you,” I kid, and that mouth opens up in the most amazing smile with perfectly white teeth. Tell me this man has a fault.

“I have ways of finding out.” He winks and my stomach flutters at the thought that he may be attracted to me like I am to him.

“Hmm … maybe I should make you use those ways.” I boldly take a step to him. Not sure why this foreign cat and prey act is coming out of me. I’ve never been one to make a move on a guy, much less someone as out of my league as Zach Greer. Pushing off the wall, he takes a step and my pulse quickens.

“Be careful, before you know it, I’ll be at your hotel door.” He takes a hold of my finger and releases it from my hair. We are chest-to-chest and my usual guarded self vanished at some point during this impromptu meeting, because the only thing I want are his lips on mine. To feel the warmth of his tongue with mine, his hands on my hips, drawing me closer.

“Maybe I wouldn’t mind,” I softly say and one side of his lips turn up as our eyes fixate on one another’s. This current forms from him to me and I boldly wait for him to push this further. My heart races, wanting him to entice me to do something I’ve never done, to push me to give in to my impulses that I always deny.

“Today would be nice, Marisa,” Wes sneers as he passes us going to the bathroom.

“Boyfriend?” Zach asks, not stepping back from me.

“Co-worker,” I answer, admiring those blue eyes that haunt me.

“Go to dinner, Marisa. I’ll be at the bar when you finish so I can buy you a drink.” Then he turns on his heel and leaves me standing there with my heart racing and a pool of moisture between my legs. What the hell?

excerpt

Over the course of the dinner, Alistair went on to tell the group about his travels to Africa, while Sebastian and Tess talked about living in New Jersey and working in New York. When they finished their meal, Tess put Mattie to bed. Sebastian and Alistair sat in the living room, enjoying an after dinner drinks.

“I read in the papers that Penny Stanton and your brother are engaged. That was a surprise,” Alistair said, crossing his legs as he sipped his scotch.

“Do you keep in touch with Penny?”

Alistair laughed. “After she told me to sod off and few other choice words—no.”

“You cheated on her in public. How did you think she’d react?”

“Irons, you were no saint back then either,” Alistair reminded him.

“Yes, I know. Things changed. I met Tess. I have a beautiful daughter. I wouldn’t trade that for anything in the world.”

Alistair became quiet, lost in thought. Finally, he looked Sebastian in the eye and said, “Penny was the best thing that ever happened to me and I blew it.”

“I won’t disagree. Why didn’t you go after her?”

“I was young and stupid. Hell, we all were back then—all of us except Penny. I was going to the Naval Academy, and it just didn’t seem possible to carry on a relationship.” Alistair looked down at his perfectly manicured fingernails and asked, “Is she well?”

“Yes, she is well. You can’t tell me you never run into her.”

“A few times—here and there. She smiles politely, but we never speak.”

“And now that you see someone else is serious about her, you want her back?”

“No, she’d never have me even if it were possible. I like Maxwell. He’ll be good to her.” He placed his glass down on the coffee table and ran his hand through his blond hair. “Bollocks! I’m just feeling sorry for myself.”

“Poor Prince Alistair.”

“Sod off, Irons,” he said, cracking a grin.

The two old friends looked at one another and began laughing aloud. Just then Tess walked back into the room. “Keep it down you two. Mattie just fell asleep,” she admonished as she sat down next to Sebastian.

“Sorry, darling,” he apologized, kissing her temple.

“So tell me, Tess: what on earth made you fall in love with Sebastian?”

Tess looked up at her husband. Her lips curled up into a smile. “I had never met anyone like him before. He’s the most loyal friend I’ve ever had, the most loving husband, and the best father.”

Sebastian looked at her, his eyes shining bright with happiness. “I love you,” he whispered, forgetting Alistair was still in the room.

Alistair cleared his throat to get the couple’s attention. “I’d best be going. You two lovebirds seem like you need some alone time.”

“Please, you’re welcome to stay a while longer,” Tess offered.

“Thank you for a wonderful dinner.” Alistair stood and kissed Tess on the cheek. Next, he shook

Sebastian’s hand. “If you’d like, I’d love to have you by Kensington Palace in a few weeks for dinner. I have an apartment there. You’re welcome to bring Mattie, too.”

“Thank you for the offer, but I’m not sure you want Mattie running around the palace,” Sebastian said.

Tess looked up at her husband with expectant eyes. “She would love it and so would I.”

“It’s settled then. I’ll have my secretary ring you next week with a date.”

“Thank you, Alistair. It was a pleasure to meet you,” Tess said, extending her hand.

Opening the front door, Sebastian said, “Have a good evening.” He watched as Alistair made his way to the Range Rover parked in front of their home. When he had driven off, Sebastian loosened his tie and shook his head in disbelief. “How did you mange to wrangle an invitation to the palace?”

“You’ve known him how many years and you’ve never been there?” Tess asked in disbelief.

“Back then, the palace—any palace—was the last place we wanted to be.” Sebastian took her hand and led her to the bedroom.

“Yes, I suppose wild parties and fine painting and antiques don’t mix. Too many things could get broken.”

“Exactly.”

“He seems nice enough. Do you think he’s tamed his wild ways?”

“Maybe he has. It’s hard to say. He’s regretting letting Penny get away.”

“He told you that?”

“Yes.” Sebastian closed the bedroom door and began to take off his suit.

“Hmm, interesting time for him to pop back into the picture,” Tess mused, stepping out of her dress and then hanging it in the closet.

“I’ll keep an eye on him. I don’t need him stirring up trouble for Max and Pen.”

Despite her father’s wishes, Lily has no intention of marrying. She wants to travel the world to gain real life inspiration for her painting and writing. And what could be better worldly experience than a passionate affair with the notorious Duke of Lybrook?

excerpt

They had barely made it inside and closed and locked the door behind them when Sean took Prim’s face in his hands and kissed her. She rested her palms on his chest then slid her hands down and undid his pants. He was quickly naked in the center of the room, although she remained fully clothed.

“Wait,” she declared. “Don’t go anywhere.”

Sean chuckled and asked her where she thought he was going to go. He watched her walk back towards the master bedroom, listened as she moved around in the room, and savored the sight of her walking back to him. He noted she wasn’t wearing her shoes anymore and deduced that she was probably not wearing anything else except the gown.

As she slipped her arms around his neck, Prim urged him to make love to her. When he pointed out it would ruin her dress, she pointed out that her dress could be cleaned. When he asked her what would happen if they tore it, she answered that it could be stitched.

“What if I tear it off you and it can’t be repaired?”

She kissed him and murmured, “I love this dress, and I’m glad you love it, too. But it’s a dress. If it gets destroyed because of what we do while I’m wearing it, then I won’t regret it.”

~ SYNOPSIS ~
When it comes to relationships, I have really bad luck. Each time I meet a guy, I cross my fingers and hope he is at least half way normal. I’m so tired of dealing with crybabies and freak shows that I could just scream. At this point, I’m so close to just joining a convent, taking the vow of chastity, and calling it quits with men entirely. Well, I probably don’t need to go to that extreme… I mean who am I kidding? There’s no way could I be a nun. But becoming an old crotchety lady with 20 cats lurking around? Now THAT is a definite possibility. That was until I saw him, my brown-eyed stallion man, swooping in to save me from an unforeseen wrinkly old balls attack, and then… he is gone. Well, not gone completely, because I can’t stop fantasizing about him.
I fantasize about him so much that when I finally did see him again, I made a complete and total ass of myself. Several times in fact. How I did not drop dead of embarrassment right then and there is beyond me.
So, remember I said I have really bad luck? Well, sit back, grab a glass of wine or your favorite mixed drink, and let me tell you how it all started, and how it all ends…
