Book: Take A Chance
Series: Chance #1, Rosemary Beach #6
Author: Abbi Glines
When Harlow Manning’s rocker father goes on tour, he sends her to Rosemary Beach, Florida, to live with her half-sister, Nan. The problem: Nan despises her. Harlow has to keep her head down if she wants to get through the next nine months, which seems easy enough. Until gorgeous Grant Carter walks out of Nan’s room in nothing but his boxer briefs.
Grant made a huge mistake getting involved with a girl with venom in her veins. He’d known about Nan’s reputation, but still he couldn’t resist her. Nothing makes him regret the fling more than meeting Harlow, who sends his pulse racing. Yet Harlow wants nothing to do with a guy who could fall for her wicked half-sister; even if there are no strings between Grant and Nan. Grant is desperate to redeem himself in Harlow’s eyes, but did he ruin his chances before he even met her?
We have all been waiting and it is finally here. We have Grant’s story…well, the beginning of Grant’s story. We know Grant from all of the Rosemary Beach books and we met Harlow in them too. Now we have their story.
Grant faces struggles from the beginning of the book because of his connection to Nan. He has to constantly fight his past with Nan as Harlow continues to have trouble dealing with the fact he had a “relationship” with Nan. He also fights his insecurities of committing to someone and then possibly losing them. We see Grant grow as a person throughout the book. He faces his fears head on to pursue his relationship with Harlow.
Harlow has much to deal with herself. She is thrust into the same house with Nan and must deal with her spite on a regular basis. She has to face her feelings for Grant and decide if she is willing to give him a second chance. In addition to her all of this, she suddenly finds out a secret that changes her life forever. While trying to deal with all of this, the press discovers her and her families secrets and she is suddenly thrust in the media.
It is nice to get Grant’s story. The book leaves us wanting more as it is left in a cliffhanger. There are many emotions throughout the book. It was nice to not only get Grant and Harlow’s story but to catch up with the other Rosemary Beach residents. I liked how Rush and Blaire played a part in the story. Ms. Glines did a great job as usual! Five stars for this book!
