Rumor Has It by Jill Shalvis

cover35249-mediumThanks to NetGalley, I was allowed to read the new Jill Shalvis book, Rumor Has It, for an honest review.  Honestly, I loved this book.  The book can be read as a stand alone and since I had not read Rescue My Heart, that was a good thing.  I have since downloaded and will be reading it though.

This book is a sweet love story about Kate who is an elementary teacher that spends her time doing all things for others and never for herself.  She has held a secret crush on Griffin for most of her life since he was her best friend’s brother.  Griffin has returned to Kate’s much loved town of Sunshine for his sister’s wedding.  He also has come to continue recuperating from his war injury.  What he doesn’t expect to find is Kate, his sister’s best friend who is grown and tugging at his heart strings.

This is a powerful story of not only love but of finding yourself.  Both Kate and Griffin have a path that each must follow if they are going to be together.  Kate must learn to give to herself instead of only giving to others and Griffin must learn to turn loose and give of himself.  Without giving away any spoilers, Griffin must also face a life-changing event that makes him question everything.

Jill Shalvis does a great job of maneuvering the characters through the path they need to take to grow and be able to trust and love.  These characters will grab at your heart and you will find yourself laughing and crying.  This is a great emotional book that also includes some very alpha male hot scenes.  Definitely add it to your must reads.  You will be glad you did!
